“INSTANT
PIANO” & “MUSIC READING FOR TOTAL BEGINNERS”
“Instant
Piano” and “Music
Reading for Total Beginners” were created by professional
pianist and author Robert
Laughlin of California. In the late 1970’s, Laughlin developed
the Original One-Day Piano Seminar, teaching busy adults all the basics
needed to play piano. Laughlin went on to develop other one-day piano
seminars and eventually began certifying teachers in his method to reach
prospective piano players all across the U.S.
If you yearn to experience the joy of playing piano, but don’t
want years of weekly lessons, the “Instant Piano One-Day
Workshop” is for you. In just a few short hours you can
learn enough secrets to make piano playing a part of your life. You’ll
learn all the chords needed to play any pop song, find out how chords
work and then perfect your technique at home with an exclusive lesson
book and audio CD. If you already know your way around the keyboard
a little, you know enough to enroll in this workshop. (If not, sign
up for the “Music Reading for Total Beginners” workshop
to get ready for “Instant Piano”.)

Creative
Style Piano Education
This
certification program was developed by Scott
Houston, the Emmy Award-winning host and co-producer of “The
Piano Guy” weekly television series aired on PBS. Houston is also
the author of the best-selling books “Play Piano in a Flash”
and “Play Piano in a Flash for Kids.” The teacher course
for Creative Style included certification for teaching both children
and adults.
The goal of Creative Style Piano Education is to give
students the knowledge and confidence to play popular songs that they
want to play in a matter of weeks instead of years. While most methods
of piano education stress precision and discipline (requirements for
classical piano training) the Creative Style stresses fun and creativity.
This method can be used for playing all popular music which includes
everything from hymns to movie themes, rock to country, and folk songs
to holiday standards. (Really everything EXCEPT classical music.)
This program can be integrated with the traditional method of piano
teaching to enhance the student’s understanding and creativity
or it can be taught as a stand-alone program for the fastest route to
playing the songs you want to play. If you took lessons in the past
but didn’t really understand what you were playing, the Creative
Style Method can help you understand written music better and
give you the foundation for learning to play by ear.
